Step 2: Declutter and Pack

Clear out the clutter and make room for the new! Sell, donate, or toss items you no longer need. Gather your packing supplies – boxes, tape, bubble wrap, and don’t forget the markers. Pack one room at a time and label your boxes. Remember, fragile items need extra love and care, just like our Teddy.

Step 3: Building Logistics

Reserve Elevators and Loading Docks

Moving in NYC often means dealing with high-rise buildings. Here’s the scoop:

• Contact Building Management: Find out the moving policies and reserve the service elevator. Early birds get the worm (or in our case, the best time slots)!
• Loading Dock: Secure a spot for your moving truck. No one likes a parking ticket on moving day.

Certificate of Insurance (COI)

Many buildings require a COI. Here’s how to handle it:

Please note that cash is the preferred method of tipping for our movers. While some customers may opt to include gratuity in the total cost of the move, providing cash directly to the movers ensures that they receive the full amount of your generous tip.

Step 4: Handle Utilities and Services

Change of Address

Notify the USPS, update your address with banks, insurance companies, and subscriptions. Don’t forget to tell friends and family about your new den!

Utilities

Arrange to disconnect or transfer your utilities. Set up new services in your new home – electricity, water, gas, and internet. Nothing says “home” like Wi-Fi.

Step 5: Moving Day Magic

Touch base with us to confirm details. If you’ve got friends helping, remind them of the schedule. We’re all in this together!

Get to know the local spots – grocery stores, hospitals, and schools. Teddy recommends checking out the nearest parks for a bit of relaxation after the move.
